The Indian Boomerang Team has departed for Badung, Indonesia, to participate in the World Boomerang Championship 2026, scheduled to be held from July 25 to August 5, 2026. Before their departure, the team paid a courtesy visit to BJP Member of Parliament Jagannath Sarkar, who extended his best wishes and encouraged the athletes to bring glory to the nation.
Boomerang is a sport deeply rooted in indigenous (tribal) traditions, and the Indian contingent reflects this rich heritage. Of the eight-member Indian team, four athletes belong to tribal communities, including Bhagwan Das Toppo from Alipurduar, West Bengal.
The athletes were accompanied by Nitin Kharbanda, Chairman of the Indo Boomerang Association, who expressed his support for the team and encouraged the players ahead of the prestigious international event. A live demonstration of the sport was also organized during the interaction.
The event was attended by Vivek Montrouge, President of the Association, Bhawna Tyagi, Secretary, Dr. Asit, Vice President Shubhanshu Singh, Jitendra Kumar, and several sports enthusiasts and officials.

The World Boomerang Championship 2026 is expected to feature participants from approximately 24 countries, providing a global platform for athletes to showcase their skills. The Indian team is optimistic about delivering an impressive performance and enhancing India's presence in the international boomerang sporting community.
